Mira Loma-based Eliminator Custom Boats will anchor its headquarters at a $30 million industrial park at Nuevo Road in Perris Jan. 30. The new 18-acre industrial park includes 15 buildings, a manufacturing plant and 13 acres of storage for up to 400 boats and recreational vehicles. Eliminator may hire 20 people within the year, depending on the economy and sales, to help staff the new plant.
The manufacturer plans to lease the 15 buildings to businesses or suppliers.
Eliminator will consolidate its Lake Havasu and Mira Loma manufacturing operations under one roof at the new plant.
The boat manufacturer employs 110 people at facilities in Texas, Mira Loma and Lake Havasu. Employees from the Lake Havasu plant likely will not relocate to work at the new facility, Director of Marketing Brandi Leach said.
Eliminator hopes to sell its Mira Loma building, Leach said. If the building doesn't sell, Eliminator will lease the building or use it to sell used boats.
"We're undecided on what we will do with the Lake Havasu building, maybe we'll scale it down to sales and parts service," Leach said.
Eliminator erected its Mira Loma building more than 20 years ago and built 20-foot boats at the plant.
Over the years, Eliminator began manufacturing 30- to 40-foot boats and outgrew the building, said president and chief executive officer Robert Leach.
"We have to move 10 boats just to get one boat to the front" at the Mira Loma building, Brandi Leach said. With the new plant, there will be plenty of room, she said.
"The level of streamlining in our production will be incredible. Efficiency will triple," Chief Financial Officer Virginia Pascucci said in a release.
Eliminator manufactures custom luxury boats that can sell for nearly $1 million.
Business has been good for the custom boat manufacturer. "We've been surprisingly busy even though the market is slowing in certain areas," Brandi Leach said.
"We have 20 boats on order and that's a lot, it being winter. Normally we have an average of 15 boats on order during this time of year."
A new line of products, aggressive marketing, a weak dollar and overseas sales helped boost sales for Eliminator, she said.
"We've had quite a few overseas sales to people who have been taking advantage of the weak dollar and the strong euro."
