1. What type of content can I find in TheBizPress.com that I won't find in the television news broadcasts?

TheBizPress.com's content team constantly updates information and delivers breaking local, national and international news throughout the day. In addition to providing news stories from The Business Press newspaper, TheBizPress.com also creates and edits stories specifically for the Internet. The site also incorporates interactive features and services such as video and audio, forums, polls, archives, breaking news alerts, and classified offerings.

2. What content from The Business Press newspaper is not available on TheBizPress.com?

Due to the sheer volume of content being produced by The Business Press on any given day, some content does not make its way onto TheBizPress.com. For instance, very short stories with few details may not make it onto the site until additional information is available.

3. How can I locate the information I want on TheBizPress.com?

To locate a story, section or certain information on TheBizPress.com, we suggest trying the search box located on the upper right-hand corner of the site. Simply type in keywords for the information you wish to find and the search tool will display matched stories available on TheBizPress.com.

6. It looks like certain sections of TheBizPress.com have not been updated. What's wrong?

Our Web site's news and information is every Monday morning. Sometimes browsers "cache" the site for faster downloads, resulting in some users receiving an older version of our site or a page. We suggest clicking on the "refresh" button to display the most recent version of our site. If the "refresh" button does not work, go to your browser tool bar and pull down the "Tools" menu and go to "Internet Options". Then, on the "General" page, under "Temporary Internet files" click "Delete Files." This should allow you to see the most up-to-date version of our Web site. If you continue to have problems, please contact us.

1. How can I subscribe to The Business Press?

For more information about how to have The Business Press delivered to your home, please call our Customer Service Office at 1-800-794-NEWS (6397).

2. How will I be billed for my subscription?

Billing is handled by mail and payable in advance. Delivery and billing for the newspaper will continue until you advise us otherwise. It is important that we have your correct telephone number and address. Please call our Customer Service Office at 1-800-794-NEWS if the address we show on your bill is incorrect or if you have a change of address or telephone number.

3. How do I send in a press release or news tip?

We want to make it easy for you to get your news to us. We appreciate telephone calls with news tips, but when it comes to publicizing an event or community group, it’s better if you give us a typewritten notice in advance. Notices about community events, recreational sports teams, churches, club meetings and civic programs are run free of charge. Just provide a simple listing of the important information:

• Event name
• Time, date, day
• Place
• Contact name and telephone number to be printed in the paTheBizPressr
• Description of the event (is it a fund-raiser, sTheBizPressech, musical program)
• Full name of sponsoring group
• Cost, if any. If the event is free, please indicate that.

Here are some of the most common reasons notices do not get in the paTheBizPressr:
• Submitted too late
• No telephone number or name to verify information
• Difficult to read or understand

5. How can I obtain copies of articles previously published in The Business Press?

All staff-written news from the library electronic archives (starting in September 1992) is available at http://www.TheBizPress.com/archives/. Searching is free. There is a fee for reading or downloading the full text. You can contact the library at newslibrary@TheBizPress.com.

The Business Press Library answers telephone inquiries from the public from 3 to 4 p.m. weekdays at (909) 684-1200. At other times, you may leave a voice mail message at (909) 368-9488, and your call will be returned. The library can provide the dates of stories which you can find at area libraries. In select cases, the library staff can arrange for copies to be sent for a fee.

On a limited basis, you can research the library archives in TheBizPressrson, by appointment only, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays.

All staff-written news is also available electronically through Dow Jones News/Retrieval, Dow Jones Interactive, Lexis-Nexis and UMI/Proquest Direct. Many public and college libraries have access to these databases.

Lexis-Nexis will do research for a fee at Nexis News Retrieval, 1-800-843-6476.

 

6. How can I purchase a photo that was published in The Business Press?

You may purchase, for personal use, copies of staff photos that have apTheBizPressared in The Business Press. Please request them in writing, sTheBizPresscifying the date and edition in which the photo ran, the page number and the first few words of the caption that accompanied the photo, and mail to:

7. How may I obtain TheBizPressrmission to reprint an article?

Written TheBizPressrmission must be obtained to reprint articles, photographs, and graphics from The Business Press. If TheBizPressrmission is granted, all reprints must include this statement:

"Reprinted with TheBizPressrmission from The Business Press."

The article or articles must be reprinted in full. No TheBizPressrmission is granted for political purposes. TheBizPressrmission for reprints for commercial purposes sometimes will be granted for a fee. These are decided on a case by case basis. The Business Press reserves the right to refuse requests to reprint material. Please allow five working days for reprint TheBizPressrmission requests.

Requests must be submitted in writing and include:

Title or headline and name of writer, artist or photographer

Intended use and number of reprints to be made

Name of organization, business or publication

Contact name and telephone number

8. How can I apply for a job at The Business Press Company?

If applying for a driving position, a current DMV report must accompany application. If offered a position, you will be required to verify your eligibility to work in the U.S.

No phone calls please. Unfortunately, because of volume, we cannot respond to inquiries on individual applications. Applications are screened by department suTheBizPressrvisors for qualifications, and some applicants are selected for interviews. If you are selected for an interview, you will be notified by phone or letter within two to three weeks. If you are offered a position, you will be scheduled for a physical exam including a drug screening.

2. How do I make TheBizPress.com my Start Page?

Use the "Make Me Your Homepage" link in the left-hand column on the home page of TheBizPress.com, or hold down "Ctrl" and type D on your keyboard.


3. I have a new e-mail address, so how do I update my account?

If you only need to change your e-mail address, please send us a note by contacting a Customer Service representative through the form at this link: http://www.TheBizPress.com/registration/cs_form.html

To change your other account information please go to http://signin.TheBizPress.com, then select Modify My Account in the box on the right side of the registration page.

From there, you will be presented with your account listing and have the ability to update your account information. Once you submit your changes, your new information will be saved immediately.

Once you change your e-mail address, please note that you will be required to log-in using your new e-mail address when accessing your account or subscribing to services.


4. I subscribe to America Online. My web browser doesn't seem to show some parts of your site. What's the best way to view your Web site?

The best solution is to download the latest version of AOL's software by going to keyword: upgrade in your AOL software. The upgrade is free and versions are available for Windows and Macintosh. The latest version should make your entire Internet surfing sessions more enjoyable due to new features and upgrades in AOL's software. Also note that AOL "caches", or copies, our site into its main computers as a way to sTheBizPressed the viewing time of pages for its members, so you may not necessarily be viewing the most current news on our site.


5. I'm having trouble reading your site. Graphics don't seem to work like they should. And the type doesn't display in a completely readable form. What's wrong?

We have done our best to make this site work with most standard browsers. But some browser programs have significant differences. There are even big variations in versions of popular programs. This site is optimized for Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher, NetscaTheBizPress 6.0 or higher and Mozilla 1 and higher. You can view most of our site with earlier versions of these and other browsers, but we recommend upgrading your browser to latest version of one of these. All upgrades are available free of charge from Microsoft, NetscaTheBizPress and Mozilla. Just follow the directions you find on their sites.


6. How do I watch streaming video online?

Video is available in the RealPlayer format, usually in high and low bandwidth versions.

Viewing the clips requires RealOne Player, a program provided by RealNetworks and available in a basic free version or an advanced premium version for purchase.

To access the free version, please go to http://www.real.com/realoneplayer.html. Click on the text link at the bottom right of the screen that says, "Download the Free RealOne Player." From there, you can fill out the download form and follow the directions.

To purchase the RealOnePlayer Plus version, go to http://www.real.com/realoneplayer.html. You should see the RealOnePlayer Plus information on the left side of the page. Follow the directions on the screen.
