FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
File name: Please name the file, archive or folder as your company name and
refrain from using spaces and special character in the file name. (Example:
COMPANY0315.sea) Do not name the files as “Business Press ad” or
any variation thereof. It is difficult to download the correct ad when numerous
ads are named Business Press.
To upload files to the FTP site:
Use FTP client software (examples: Fetch for Mac and FTP Explorer for PC)
Host site: ftp.pe.net
Site user ID: your e-mail address

Please include: contact information, a hard copy proof of the ad, a color key if it is running in color and follow the electronic ad requirements listed above.
Supported Software
QuarkXpress Document (preferred) – Collect for output, making sure high
resolution images are included with color images in CMYK (no RGB, lab, duotone,
index color, multichannel or Pantone images) and include ALL fonts – both
screen and printer.
PDF (Portable Document Format) Make sure the document is saved with high resolution graphics, color images in CMYK and ALL fonts embedded.
Adobe Illustrator EPS – If the ad is built in Illustrator, it is imperative that bitmapped (CMYK or b/w only, no RGB, Pantone and no JPEG compression) images are embedded and that ALL fonts are converted to outlines. Please save back to Illustrator 8.0.
Adobe Photoshop TIFF/EPS – All color images should be saved as CMYK and at least 170 dpi at 100% size. Ads printed in a glossy position require a resolution of at least 266 dpi at 100% size. TIFFs should be saved as Macintosh with no LZW compression. Photoshop EPSs should be saved with the preview as Macintosh (8 bits/pixel) and encoding as binary. Illustrator EPSs should be saved 8-bit Macintosh. Please save back to Photoshop 5.5.
Ads built in programs other than those above: Must be saved or exported as a pdf. See above information about PDFs.
Graphic file formats: TIFF and EPS are the preferred file formats. Please no gifs, jpegs, bmps, WMFs or PICTs.
Compression: Stuff-it self extracting archives (.sea), Zip archives (.zip) and Stuff-it archives (.sit) are acceptable.
Supported media: Macintosh and PC/Windows CD-ROMs and 100mb Zip disks
Color
All submitted ads should use CMYK process colors (i.e. cyan, magenta, yellow
and black). If using a Pantone or spot color in your ad, please convert all
colors to CMYK before saving.
Fonts
Due to various versions and names of the same font, it is mandatory that all
font files (both screen and printer) used in creating the master document,
as well as imported files, be included in each ad received.
If a font file is not included, The Business Press will match the missing font as closely as possible to the ad layout supplied by the advertiser. This may cause formatting changes. Therefore, The Business Press will not be responsible for the “revision” of the ad for which font files were not received.
The Business Press will assume that all edits necessary for the satisfactory reproduction of any black-and-white halftones or color separations have been made before the files have been received.

Commissions and Discounts
All advertising rates are net. All invoices are due upon receipt.
Deadlines and Cancellations
Ad cancellations must be received in writing no later than seven (7) days prior to the publication date. Ads cancelled after the deadline will be billed at 100%.
Publisher's Approval
All advertising must be approved by the publisher. Publisher may require that the word "advertisement" appear in any ad that appears to resemble editorial. Advertisers and their agencies will indemnify, defend and hold harmless The Business Press from any claims and all loss, expense or liability arising out of the publication of any advertising copy.
Liability for Payment
Publisher may hold advertiser and agency jointly and severally liable for all sums due and payable to publisher.
Frequency Discounts
Advertising must be inserted within one year from date of first ad to earn frequency discounts. To qualify for the 50x rate, all 50 ads must run within one year. Frequency discounts will be allowed in advance on those contracts which specify units of advertising space. If the number of units is not specified on a contract or insertion, each insertion will be billed at the open rate. Advertising contracted at a frequency rate and not earned will be short-rated.
Publisher's Liability
The liability of the publisher for any error, omission or delay for which it may be held generally responsible shall in no event exceed the cost of the space paid for and occupied by the advertiser.
Retention of Materials
Camera-ready artwork will be retained up to six months following use unless return is specifically requested.
